We use double-wall vacuum insulation and innovative cap designs to achieve excellent thermal performance, all with environmentally friendly and responsible materials. In fact, our 64oz Insulated Classic keeps drinks hot for 30 hours and iced for 100 (that’s more than four days). We’d say it’s a win win.

WASHING YOUR BOTTLES, CUPS, CANISTERS AND CAPS

  • Our single-wall Kanteens in brushed stainless are dishwasher safe, as are our pint cups, baby bottles and single wall food canisters.
  • We recommend handwashing all colored and all vacuum insulated bottles, vacuum insulated tumblers and vacuum-insulated canisters.
  • For thorough cleaning, you can use warm, soapy water and a bottle brush. We also recommend an old-fashioned cleaner: mixing water and baking soda making a nice thick paste.
  • If your bottle or cap seems to be retaining flavors or smells, use diluted vinegar and soak them in it overnight.
    NOTE: the Stainless Unibody Bamboo Cap should not be soaked or immersed.
  • All Kid Kanteen and Classic caps (except the Bamboo Cap) and all Wide and TKWide caps are dishwasher safe.

PROTECTING THE COLOR ON YOUR BOTTLE

To prolong the life of your colored Klean Kanteen, handwash your bottle and don't use abrasive agents to clean it.

UNIBODY BAMBOO CAP CARE AND USE

Handwash only! Not dishwasher safe. DO NOT submerge in water, expose to high temperatures or harsh detergents. Scrub with warm soapy water, rinse and dry immediately. To prolong the life of the bamboo, treat periodically with mineral oil (standard cutting block oil) or bees wax (w/mineral oil).

Reduce. Reuse. Repair… Our Maintenance Kits are designed to do just that. Our kits include o-rings, gaskets and gaskets tools -- a no-fuss fix that extends the life of your bottle so it's running as long as you are. Available for both Classic and Wide caps.

01 Replace Worn-Out Parts

Taking a “care and repair” approach significantly reduces the footprint of Kleans compared to single-use. After just seven weeks the carbon footprint of a 27oz Classic will break even with emissions from average bottled water consumption over the same period.

03 Pick Your Product

Vacuum insulated or single-wall? If you are in the market to keep hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold for a loooooong time, vacuum insulated is the best choice. But if you want something more lightweight with a smaller environmental footprint, single-wall is the way to go.

02 Use the Dishwasher

When care and use instructions indicate dishwasher safe, popping your Kanteen in the dishwasher actually saves more water and soap than hand washing. Bonus points if you use environmentally responsible detergent. If you have to wash your Kanteen by hand, use cold water and turn off the tap while scrubbing

04 Recycle

Kleans are built to last a lifetime, but sometimes life is rough. If you are ready to part ways with your Kanteen and can’t pass it on, you can recycle it! Most metal recyclers will accept the stainless steel body. Caps and lids require a specialty recycling center.
